Enivironmental Benefits

A great deal of research has already been done to illustrate and measure the benefits associated with increases in the quantity and quality of water, and reduced energy consumption on related greenhouse gas and other air emissions.

The results of this analysis will calculate the reductions in water, soil loss and other environmental impacts associated with this new technology, to estimate environmental (public) benefits.

The analysis will:

  • Determine changes in resource use and environmental emissions associated with the technology based on different rates of adoption by industry
  • Provide an environmental analysis associated with these changes
  • Evaluate the potential of these nonmarket values to generate market value via emerging environmental markets (e.g., water pricing, water pollution and greenhouse gas credit markets)
  • Supplement the private benefits analysis with an environmental benefit analysis for the industry.
